Khao Lak Scuba Adventures is the busiest and largest award winning PADI 5 Star CDC Career Development Center in Khao Lak with 7 liveaboards, going to the Similan Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock – some of the top 10 dive sites in the world.
We have our own purpose built dive pool, classrooms, IDC classroom and chilled study areas. With so many boats and lots of courses taking place, there are lots of opportunities to follow courses, get real-life experience of a busy dive shop, meet lots of customers of all abilities and skill levels, so that at the end of your course you have a good working knowledge to take with you on your future career.

The IDC develops a candidates ability to spot and correct problems, reinforce the correct technique and maintain a positive attitude throughout. We do this in the classroom, the pool and the open water.

Our programme include a commitment to helping you find a rewarding career. Not only are we teaching you to get through a PADI Instructor exam, but we also help you get work in the dive industry.

For those who are short on time, we offer the option to pre-study some of the IDC at home before you get here, with IDC Online which replaces the first 2 days of the IDC course.

An average day during the course

Most days are split into morning and afternoon sessions with two separate focusses.
For example you could be in the classroom one morning for the normal 8am start, doing knowledge review presentations. Then you would break for lunch, which is provided, and then you could be in the pool in the afternoon practicing your confined open water presentations or your rescue skills. The days normally end at 6pm when, most of the time, the candidates all go out for dinner with each other in one of the many lovely local restaurants here. Other options include socialising with the instructors that already work here as it’s such a friendly environment you’ll be invited out to things by the other instructors.

Teaching experience

This is where you get to put into practice what you have worked so hard for to achieve. You get the chance to go onto 4 liveaboard trips between 3-5 days long. You will learn how to teach courses and guide customers in some of the most amazing dive sites in the world together with a experienced fixed employed member of staff. As mentioned below, once this team teaching experience has been completed you will receive a partial refund of your IDC as well.

Whilst getting the chance to practice what you’ve learned, you also get to experience what it’s like to team teach and live with a close group of friends who are all into the same things which is what being a dive instructor is all about!
