Khao Lak Scuba Adventures PADI 5 star CDC Centre offers two types of PADI divemaster packages. A 4 week course and an 8 week course. Both courses cover everything you need to know to become a professional divemaster. Each course offers you the chance to make 3 trips on any one of our 7 boats ranging between 3-5 days in length. You will be training with Patricia, but also at times with instructors on the boats as well which will expose you to vast amounts of knowledge that is invaluable at the start of your professional diving career.

Week 1 onboarding, paperwork, pool and theory

This week is all about settling in and getting a baseline to build from. You’ll be shown around the dive shop and introduced to people. We will get into the pool as quick as possible and start your training.

Week 2 training workshops, divemaster experience on land

By now you’ll have mastered the basics of what is required in all of your pool skills and workshops and now you’ll be looking at really perfecting your techniques of demonstration and problem solving. Alongside this your diving knowledge will be fantastic as you’ll have been studying your theory with the help of your course mates and your instructors. You will also be helping around the dive centre so you will have first hand experience of what it is like to work in a well run, busy dive shop!

Week 3 liveaboard and course experience

The moment you’ve been waiting for, you get to go out and dive on some of the worlds most famous dive sites! During this trip you’ll be practicing your diving skills as well as completing the open water scenarios. If there are courses available for you to assist on you will also get the chance to work with real students in open water.

Week 4 divemaster experience on land

You will get to fully experience the land based side of a divemaster job, you may be running refresher courses in our pool under the watchful eye of an instructor or helping with equipment maintenance with our dedicated technician. You’ll be helping to prepare for the departing trips and so much more! Dive shops have a lot more going on behind the scenes than most people realise. Getting this experience during your training will really help with getting a job later on as it will help you to stand out from the crowd. You can also use this time to make sure you’re staying on top of your theory as well!

Week 5 liveaboard and course experience

It’s liveaboard time again. This trip you’ll be focusing on following courses and assisting instructors as well as practicing guiding customers with an instructor following you and able to give you helpful feedback at the end of every dive!

Week 6 divemaster experience on land

Another chance to learn more about the inner workings of a dive centre, we’ll get you to experience as many different parts of the job as we can. Make sure you take in as much as you can as this sort of experience is invaluable when it comes to writing your first diving CV.

Week 7 liveaboard and course experience

Yet another liveaboard! By this time your guiding skills will be fantastic and you will be looking after a group of divers with another instructor, but you’ll be the one in charge for the majority of the time. It’s time to show off what you’ve learned, how good your dive skills are and your vast knowledge about everything diving.

Week 8 divemaster experience on land/ career development

Your last chance to experience dive centre life, make use of it!
As a 5 star CDC there are many ways we can help you to develop your career right from helping you to continue your diving education and training you as an instructor all the way through to helping you choose the next piece of equipment you want to get and everything in between.


During your time here with us there will be plenty of time in the evenings for you to get to know your course mates and instructors better. Quite often there are large outings involving loads of members of staff and DM candidates alike, its a great atmosphere to enjoy.

What’s NOT included

PADI Divemaster Application Fee 220 AUD
National Marine Park fees depending on the duration of the trip


-Certified as a Rescue Diver or equivalent level with another recreational diver training organisation.
-At least 18 years old.
-In good physical condition for diving and submit a medical exam form signed by a physician.
-Able to show that you have completed and logged at least 40 open water dives at the end 60 dives
-Certified on a CPR and First Aid course in the last 24 months.
